Quickly estimate your osteoporosis risk with the SCORE calculator. This tool helps women aged 50 and above understand their potential for bone fractures based on key medical factors. Get an immediate risk score and guidance on whether a DEXA scan or further evaluation is recommended for your bone health.
Formula:
The Osteoporosis Risk SCORE is determined by assigning points to various risk factors and summing them up. This calculation helps identify individuals at increased risk of osteoporosis, particularly women aged 50 and older.
- Age: Points increase with age: 50-54 = 0, 55-59 = 1, 60-64 = 2, 65-69 = 3, 70-74 = 4, 75-79 = 5, 80+ = 6 points.
- Weight (kg): Lower weight adds more points: <50kg = 3, 50-59kg = 2, 60-69kg = 1, >=70kg = 0 points.
- Previous Non-traumatic Fracture (after age 45): +4 points if Yes.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis: +4 points if Yes.
- Ever used Estrogen: -1 point if Yes.
- Current Glucocorticoid Use: +8 points if Yes.
A total SCORE of 6 or higher suggests an increased risk of osteoporosis, warranting further medical evaluation like a DEXA scan.
