Formula:
The Tinetti Score (also known as the Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment or POMA) is calculated by summing two sub-scores:
- Balance Score: Sum of 9 individual balance items (max 16 points)
- Gait Score: Sum of 7 individual gait items (max 12 points)
Total Tinetti Score = Balance Score + Gait Score
Based on the total score (max 28 points), a falls risk category is determined:
- 25-28: Low Falls Risk
- 19-24: Moderate Falls Risk
- < 19: High Falls Risk
