The BIMS Calculator provides a quick way to compute your Brief Interview for Mental Status (BIMS) score. This assessment tool is crucial for evaluating cognitive function, memory, and orientation, commonly used in geriatric settings for dementia screening and ongoing cognitive monitoring.
Formula:
The BIMS score is the sum of points from three word recall questions and four orientation questions:
- Word Recall: Sum of correct words (0-3 points)
- Year: Score for correct year (0-2 points)
- Month: Score for correct month (0-2 points)
- Day of Week: Score for correct day of the week (0-2 points)
- Time of Day: Score for time of day within 1 hour (0-3 points)

Total BIMS Score = Word Recall Score + Year Score + Month Score + Day of Week Score + Time of Day Score + Location Score
Max Score: 15 points
