Parkland Burn Formula Calculator: IV Fluid Resuscitation

Calculate Parkland Burn Fluid Requirements

The Parkland Burn Formula Calculator quickly determines the intravenous fluid volume needed for burn patients over 24 hours. Essential for emergency medicine, it helps healthcare professionals provide optimal fluid resuscitation based on body weight and Total Body Surface Area (TBSA) burned. Ensure critical burn care accuracy.

Formula:

The Parkland Burn Formula calculates the total intravenous fluid required for burn patients over the first 24 hours post-burn.

Formula: 4 mL × Body Weight (kg) × % TBSA Burned

  • Body Weight (kg): The patient's weight in kilograms.
  • % TBSA Burned: The estimated total body surface area affected by second-degree or higher burns.

Administration Protocol: The calculated total fluid volume is administered over 24 hours. Half of the total volume is given during the first 8 hours post-burn, and the remaining half over the subsequent 16 hours.
