Use our free MEWS Score Calculator to quickly determine a patient's Modified Early Warning Score. This crucial tool helps healthcare professionals assess the risk of clinical deterioration by evaluating key physiological parameters including heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and AVPU score. Enhance patient safety and care with immediate risk assessment.
Formula:
The MEWS score is calculated by summing individual scores assigned to various physiological parameters. Each parameter (Respiratory Rate, Oxygen Saturation, Systolic BP, Heart Rate, Temperature, and AVPU) is given a score (0-3) based on its measured value. The total sum represents the patient's MEWS score.
- Respiratory Rate (breaths/min): ≤8 (3), 9-14 (0), 15-20 (1), 21-24 (2), ≥25 (3)
- Oxygen Saturation (%): ≤85 (3), 86-90 (2), 91-95 (1), ≥96 (0)
- Systolic BP (mmHg): ≤70 (3), 71-80 (2), 81-100 (1), 101-199 (0), ≥200 (2)
- Heart Rate (bpm): ≤39 (2), 40-50 (1), 51-100 (0), 101-110 (1), 111-129 (2), ≥130 (3)
- Temperature (°C): ≤35.0 (2), 35.1-38.0 (0), 38.1-38.5 (1), ≥38.6 (2)
- AVPU Score: Alert (0), Voice (1), Pain (2), Unresponsive (3)
