Formula:

The LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol is commonly estimated using the Friedewald equation, especially when direct measurement is unavailable. This is what our LDL Astatin Calculator utilizes:

LDL-C = Total Cholesterol - HDL-C - (Triglycerides / 5)

Where:

  • LDL-C = Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (mg/dL)
  • Total Cholesterol = Total Cholesterol (mg/dL)
  • HDL-C = High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (mg/dL)
  • Triglycerides = Triglycerides (mg/dL)

Note: This formula is most accurate when triglyceride levels are below 400 mg/dL (4.5 mmol/L).
