Planning new curtains? Our Curtain Fabric Calculator helps you precisely estimate the total fabric required for your custom drapery project. Input window width, desired drop, fabric width, fullness ratio, hem allowances, and pattern repeat to get accurate yardage or meterage for beautiful, perfectly fitted curtains.
Formula:
The calculation involves several steps to ensure accuracy, considering fabric width, fullness, and pattern repeats.
1. Desired Curtain Width:Desired Width = Window Width × Fullness Ratio
2. Number of Fabric Panels (Width-wise):Number of Panels = CEILING(Desired Width ÷ Fabric Width)
3. Fabric Length Per Panel (Accounting for Hems & Pattern Repeat):Base Panel Length = Curtain Drop + Top Hem Allowance + Bottom Hem Allowance
If Pattern Repeat > 0:Adjusted Panel Length = CEILING(Base Panel Length ÷ Pattern Repeat) × Pattern Repeat
Else:Adjusted Panel Length = Base Panel Length
4. Total Fabric Length Required:Total Fabric Length = Number of Panels × Adjusted Panel Length
Where CEILING() rounds up to the nearest whole number.
