Uncover your personal CO₂ breathing emissions with our free calculator. Easily estimate your daily and annual carbon dioxide output from respiration. Understand your contribution to the atmosphere and gain insights into human carbon footprint.
Formula:
The CO₂ breathing emission is calculated based on your average respiration rate, tidal volume, and the typical CO₂ concentration in exhaled air. The formula used is:
Daily CO₂ Volume (L) = Breaths/min × Tidal Volume (L/breath) × Exhaled CO₂ % (as decimal) × 60 min/hr × 24 hr/day
Daily CO₂ Emission (grams) = Daily CO₂ Volume (L) × DensityCO₂
Annual CO₂ Emission (kg) = Daily CO₂ Emission (grams) × 365.25 / 1000
- Breaths/min: Average breaths per minute
- Tidal Volume: Average volume of air inhaled/exhaled per breath (in Liters)
- Exhaled CO₂ %: Concentration of CO₂ in exhaled air (e.g., 4.5% is 0.045)
- DensityCO₂: Approximately 1.977 grams/Liter (at standard temperature and pressure)
