APACHE II Score Calculator: Acute Physiology & Chronic Health Evaluation

Calculate Your Patient's APACHE II Score

1. Physiological Parameters (Acute Physiology Score)

Select the most abnormal values recorded in the first 24 hours of ICU admission.

2. Age Score

3. Chronic Health Score

(e.g., Cirrhosis, NYHA Class IV cardiac status, severe COPD, chronic dialysis, immunosuppression)

Use our APACHE II Score Calculator to accurately assess the severity of illness for critically ill patients. This robust tool aids in predicting ICU mortality risk based on key physiological, age, and chronic health parameters, guiding clinical decisions and research. Quickly determine the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation score for better patient management.

Formula:

The APACHE II (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II) score is calculated as the sum of three main components:

  • Acute Physiology Score (APS): Derived from 12 routine physiological measurements, where abnormal values receive points. The GCS score is also incorporated.
  • Age Score: Points awarded based on the patient's age group.
  • Chronic Health Score: Points awarded if the patient has severe organ insufficiency or is immunosuppressed, adjusted for emergency surgery status.

APACHE II Score = Acute Physiology Score (APS) + Age Score + Chronic Health Score
