Paschen's Equation Calculator

Online paschen's equation calculator helps to calculate the breakdown potential of two electrodes. Paschen's Law is an equation that gives, in a partial vacuum, the breakdown voltage, that is the voltage necessary to start a discharge or electric arc, between two electrodes in a gas as a function of pressure and gap length.

Breakdown Potential of two Electrodes - Paschen Law Calculation

Formula:

Vb = B*p*d / [[ In( A*p*d ) ] - [ln (In ((1 + 1/Vb ) ) ]]

where,
B - Constant that depends on the surrounding gas (V/atm*m)
p - The pressure of the surrounding gas (atm)
d - The gap distance (m)
A - Constant that depends on the surrounding gas (1/atm*m)
γse - Secondary Electron Emission Coefficient (dimensionless)
Vb - The breakdown potential
