Wind Pressure Calculator

Wind Pressure Calculation

This calculator calculates the wind pressure using design wind speed value.

Wind pressure is the physical principle behind the pressure tube (Pitot) or pressure-plate anemometer. The Pitot tube is based on the Bernoulli law for moving airstreams and consists of a manometer that measures the difference between the static and the dynamic pressures sampled at two orifices made on the probe tube, made, respectively, in the stagnation point and where the wind field is unaffected. It is especially used in chimneys or aeroplanes. The wind pressure is also used to orient wind vanes and measure the wind direction.

Formula:

pz = 0.6 × Vz²

Where,

Vz = design wind speed in m/s at height z.

pz = wind pressure in N/m² at height z
