Utilize our free online VSWR Calculator to quickly determine the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio from forward and reflected power. Essential for RF engineers, this tool helps evaluate antenna system efficiency and signal transmission line impedance matching, identifying potential signal loss issues. Calculate VSWR, reflection coefficient, and return loss instantly.

Formula:

The Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) quantifies the impedance match of a transmission line to its load. It's crucial for RF system performance and is calculated using the following formula from forward and reflected power:

VSWR = (1 + √(Pr / Pf)) / (1 - √(Pr / Pf))

Where:

  • Pf = Forward Power (Power transmitted from source to load, in Watts)
  • Pr = Reflected Power (Power reflected back towards the source, in Watts)
Note: For a valid VSWR, Pf must be greater than Pr and Pf must be greater than 0.
