True Position GD&T Tolerance Calculator

Calculate True Position Error

Utilize our advanced True Position GD&T Tolerance Calculator to quickly determine the positional accuracy of features. Input nominal and measured coordinates to calculate the true position error, ensuring your parts meet crucial manufacturing specifications and GD&T standards.

Formula:

The True Position Error (TPE) is calculated based on the deviation from the nominal coordinates. For a 2D feature, the formula is:

TPE = 2 × √((Xmeasured - Xnominal)2 + (Ymeasured - Ynominal)2)

Where:

  • Xnominal: The ideal or specified X-coordinate.
  • Ynominal: The ideal or specified Y-coordinate.
  • Xmeasured: The actual measured X-coordinate.
  • Ymeasured: The actual measured Y-coordinate.
  • For 3D features, a Z-component (Zmeasured - Znominal)2 is added inside the square root.

The calculated TPE is then compared against your specified True Position Tolerance (TPT) to determine if the part is within specifications.
