Use our Transformer K-Factor Harmonics Rating Calculator to accurately determine the K-factor of your transformer based on harmonic current percentages. Essential for safely sizing transformers in environments with non-linear loads, protecting against overheating, and ensuring electrical system reliability. Calculate K-Factor quickly and efficiently for optimal transformer performance.
Formula:
The K-Factor (K) is calculated using the following formula:
K = ∑(Ih2 × h2) / ∑(Ih2)
Where:
- Ih = The RMS current of the h-th harmonic, expressed as a percentage of the fundamental current (e.g., 100 for 100%, 20 for 20%).
- h = The harmonic order (e.g., 1 for fundamental, 3 for 3rd harmonic, 5 for 5th harmonic).
- The summations (∑) are carried out for all significant harmonic orders present in the load current.
