Accurately determine the number of turns required for your transformer coils. Our free online calculator helps engineers and hobbyists design efficient transformers for voltage step-up, step-down, and impedance matching. Simply input known values to find primary or secondary winding turns instantly.

Formula for Transformer Turns Ratio
The ideal transformer turns ratio is directly proportional to the voltage ratio:
Np / Ns = Vp / Vs
Where:
- Np = Number of turns in the Primary coil
- Ns = Number of turns in the Secondary coil
- Vp = Primary Voltage (Volts)
- Vs = Secondary Voltage (Volts)
To calculate an unknown number of turns:
- To find Primary Turns (Np): Np = Ns * (Vp / Vs)
- To find Secondary Turns (Ns): Ns = Np * (Vs / Vp)
Our calculator simplifies these calculations for your convenience.
