Stripline Impedance Calculator: Online PCB Design Tool

Calculate Stripline Characteristic Impedance (Z0)

Utilize our Stripline Impedance Calculator for precise PCB design. Easily determine the characteristic impedance (Z0) of stripline traces based on trace width, thickness, dielectric constant, and board thickness, ensuring optimal signal integrity and performance in your high-speed circuits.

Formula:

The characteristic impedance (Z0) of a stripline can be approximated by the formula:

Z0 = (60 / √(εr)) × ln( (4 × B) / (0.67 × π × (0.8 × W + T)) )

Where:

  • Z0 = Characteristic Impedance (Ohms)
  • εr = Dielectric Constant (Relative Permittivity)
  • B = Dielectric Thickness (total distance between ground planes)
  • W = Trace Width
  • T = Trace Thickness
Note: W, T, and B must be in consistent units (e.g., mils or mm).
