Determining the ideal rug size isn't based on a single mathematical formula, but rather on design principles and the function of the room. Our calculator applies common interior design guidelines, such as:
- Living Room: Ensuring main furniture's front legs rest on the rug, or all furniture is entirely on the rug.
- Dining Room: The rug extending 24-36 inches beyond the dining table on all sides, allowing chairs to remain on the rug when pulled out.
