Accurately determine the remaining oxygen duration in an E cylinder with our essential online calculator. Ideal for medical professionals and caregivers, it ensures you're always prepared, helping you prevent critical shortages during patient transport or home care. Simply input your current tank pressure and oxygen flow rate to get instant results.
Formula:
The O2 remaining in an E cylinder is calculated using the following formula:
Time (minutes) = ((Gauge Pressure - Safety Residual Pressure) × Cylinder Factor) ÷ Flow Rate
- Gauge Pressure (psi): The current pressure reading on your oxygen tank gauge.
- Safety Residual Pressure (psi): The pressure at which the tank should be considered empty (typically 200 psi).
- Cylinder Factor (L/psi): A conversion factor specific to the cylinder size (for E cylinders, it's commonly 0.28 L/psi or 0.3 L/psi).
- Flow Rate (LPM): The prescribed oxygen flow rate in Liters Per Minute.
