Nitrox Calculator: Determine Your MOD & EAD for Scuba Diving

Nitrox Dive Planner: Calculate MOD & EAD

Enter the oxygen percentage of your Nitrox mix (e.g., 32 for EAN32).
Typical values are 1.4 bar (recreational) or 1.6 bar (technical).
Enter your intended maximum dive depth.
Unlock safer nitrox diving with our easy-to-use Nitrox Calculator. Quickly compute your Maximum Operating Depth (MOD) and Equivalent Air Depth (EAD) for any oxygen blend, ensuring you stay within safe partial pressure limits. Ideal for recreational and technical divers planning their next underwater adventure.

Formula:

To calculate Maximum Operating Depth (MOD):
MOD = ((PPO2 ÷ FO2) - 1) × 10 meters

To calculate Equivalent Air Depth (EAD):
EAD = (((1 - FO2) ÷ 0.79) × (Depth + 10)) - 10 meters

Where:

  • PPO2 = Maximum Partial Pressure of Oxygen (e.g., 1.4 or 1.6 bar)
  • FO2 = Fraction of Oxygen in the Nitrox mix (e.g., 0.32 for 32% Nitrox)
  • Depth = Planned Dive Depth in meters
  • 0.79 = Fraction of Nitrogen in air
