Net Migration Rate and Population Flow Calculator

Calculate Your Region's Net Migration Rate

Total individuals who moved into the region.
Total individuals who moved out of the region.
The average population of the region during the period.

Quickly determine the net migration rate and understand population flow dynamics with our user-friendly online calculator. Analyze demographic shifts, calculate the balance between in-migration and out-migration, and gain insights into regional population changes and their socio-economic impacts.

Formula:

The Net Migration Rate (NMR) is calculated using the following formula:

NMR = (I - E) / P × 1000

Where:

  • I = Total number of Immigrants (people entering the region during the period)
  • E = Total number of Emigrants (people leaving the region during the period)
  • P = The Mid-period Population (the average population of the region during the same period)
  • 1000 = A constant to express the rate per 1,000 individuals.

This formula yields the net migration rate per 1,000 population, indicating population gain or loss due to migration.
