Navigating nanny taxes can be complex, but our Nanny Tax Calculator 2024 simplifies the process. Quickly estimate your employer's share of Social Security, Medicare, FUTA, and SUTA taxes for your household employee. Understand your financial obligations with ease!

Formula:

The Nanny Tax (employer's share) is primarily calculated based on the employee's gross annual wages, factoring in Social Security (SS), Medicare, Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA), and State Unemployment Tax (SUTA).

Total Annual Employer Nanny Tax = (Employer SS Tax) + (Employer Medicare Tax) + (Employer FUTA Tax) + (Employer SUTA Tax)

Where:

  • Employer SS Tax = 6.2% of wages up to the annual SS wage base ($168,600 for 2024).
  • Employer Medicare Tax = 1.45% of all wages (no wage base limit).
  • Employer FUTA Tax = 0.6% of the first $7,000 in wages paid per employee.
  • Employer SUTA Tax = Your State's SUTA Rate × Wages up to your State's SUTA Wage Base.

Note: Federal Nanny Taxes apply if total wages paid to any household employee are $2,700 or more in a calendar year (2024 threshold).
