Unlock insights into your liver health with our free NAFLD Fibrosis Score (NFS) Calculator. This essential tool helps assess the likelihood of advanced liver fibrosis in individuals with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), using routine clinical and laboratory parameters. Quickly determine your potential risk and discuss the results with your healthcare provider for informed decisions.
Formula:
The NAFLD Fibrosis Score (NFS) is derived from a widely accepted formula utilizing various clinical and lab parameters:
NFS = -1.675 + 0.037 × Age (years) + 0.094 × BMI (kg/m²) + 1.13 × IFG/Diabetes (yes=1, no=0) + 0.99 × AST/ALT ratio - 0.013 × Platelet (x10⁹/L) - 0.66 × Albumin (g/dL)
- Age: Patient's age in years.
- BMI: Body Mass Index in kilograms per square meter (kg/m²).
- IFG/Diabetes: Impaired Fasting Glucose or diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (enter 1 if present, 0 if absent).
- AST/ALT ratio: Ratio of Aspartate Aminotransferase to Alanine Aminotransferase.
- Platelet: Platelet count in 10⁹/L (billions per liter).
- Albumin: Serum albumin level in grams per deciliter (g/dL).
