Calculate Your Room's Total Lumens

Typical values: Office (300-500), Living Room (100-200), Warehouse (200-300).
Accounts for dirt and aging. Typically 0.70 to 0.90. Default: 0.85.
Percentage of light reaching the work plane. Typically 0.50 to 0.80. Default: 0.70.

Use our Lux to Lumens Room Layout Calculator to accurately determine the total lumen output required for your space. Input desired lux levels, room dimensions, and efficiency factors to plan perfect lighting for any room, from offices to living areas. Get instant, precise results for your lighting projects.

Formula:

The Lighting Lux to Lumens Room Layout Calculator utilizes the following formula to determine the total lumens required for your space:

Total Lumens = (Target Lux × Room Length × Room Width) / (Light Loss Factor × Coefficient of Utilization)

Where:

  • Target Lux: The desired illuminance level for the room (lux).
  • Room Length: The length of the room (meters).
  • Room Width: The width of the room (meters).
  • Light Loss Factor (LLF): Accounts for lumen depreciation due to dirt, lamp aging, and room surface characteristics (typically 0.7 - 0.9).
  • Coefficient of Utilization (CU): Represents the percentage of light from the fixture that reaches the work plane, influenced by room reflectances and fixture type (typically 0.5 - 0.8).
