The LRINEC (Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis) Score Calculator is a crucial tool for medical professionals to quickly assess a patient's risk of developing necrotizing fasciitis, a severe soft tissue infection. This calculator uses six routine laboratory parameters: C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell count (WBC), hemoglobin (Hgb), sodium (Na), creatinine (Cr), and glucose (Glc) to generate a risk score, aiding in prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Formula:

The LRINEC score is a sum of points derived from six common laboratory parameters:

  • C-reactive protein (CRP): 4 points if ≥ 150 mg/L
  • White blood cell count (WBC): 2 points if > 15 x 109/L, or -1 point if < 4 x 109/L
  • Hemoglobin (Hgb): 1 point if < 13.5 g/dL, or 2 points if < 11 g/dL
  • Sodium (Na): 2 points if < 135 mmol/L
  • Creatinine (Cr): 2 points if > 1.6 mg/dL
  • Glucose (Glc): 1 point if > 180 mg/dL

Total LRINEC Score = Sum of points from CRP + WBC + Hgb + Na + Cr + Glc.
