Log Weight Calculator: Estimate Timber & Firewood Weight Easily

Calculate Your Log's Weight

Our Log Weight Calculator provides an easy way to estimate the weight of logs, timber, or firewood for various applications. Whether you're in forestry, planning lumber projects, or preparing firewood, simply input the log's diameter and length, select the wood species, and get an instant weight estimate.

Formula:

The weight of a log is calculated by first determining its cylindrical volume and then multiplying it by the wood's density.
The formula used is:

Weight = π × ( (Dinches / 24)2 ) × Lfeet × Densitylbs/ft³

Where:
  • π (Pi) ≈ 3.14159
  • Dinches is the average diameter of the log in inches.
  • Lfeet is the length of the log in feet.
  • Densitylbs/ft³ is the density of the wood species in pounds per cubic foot.
Note: This calculator assumes a uniform cylindrical shape, which may vary from actual log shapes.
