Liquid Viscosity Temperature Dependence Calculator

Calculate Liquid Viscosity at Target Temperature

Known Viscosity 1 (μ1) at Temperature 1 (T1)

Known Viscosity 2 (μ2) at Temperature 2 (T2)

Target Temperature (Ttarget)

Uncover how temperature impacts liquid viscosity with our advanced calculator. Ideal for chemists, engineers, and physicists, this tool provides accurate predictions of fluid behavior across varying thermal conditions, simplifying complex fluid dynamics analyses and research.

Formula:

The calculator utilizes a variant of the Andrade Equation to model viscosity's dependence on temperature:

μ = A ⋅ e(B/T)

Where:

  • μ: Dynamic viscosity at temperature T (Pa·s, cP, etc.)
  • A: Pre-exponential factor (material constant, same unit as μ)
  • B: Activation energy constant (material constant, K or °R)
  • T: Absolute temperature (Kelvin or Rankine)

To use this calculator, you provide two known viscosity-temperature pairs (μ1 at T1 and μ2 at T2). The calculator first determines the material constants A and B, then uses these constants to calculate the viscosity (μtarget) at your specified target absolute temperature (Ttarget).
