Use our free Identify Quadrants Calculator to quickly determine which of the four quadrants any given (x,y) coordinate pair resides in. Perfect for students, educators, and professionals working with coordinate geometry.
Formula:
A point (x,y) is located in one of four quadrants based on the signs of its coordinates. If a coordinate is zero, the point lies on an axis.
- Quadrant I: x > 0, y > 0
- Quadrant II: x < 0, y > 0
- Quadrant III: x < 0, y < 0
- Quadrant IV: x > 0, y < 0
- Axes: If x = 0 or y = 0 (but not both), the point lies on an axis.
- Origin: If x = 0 and y = 0, the point is at the origin.
