Utilize our comprehensive Hemodialysis PCR Calculator to accurately determine the Protein Catabolic Rate (nPCR) and Kt/V for hemodialysis patients. This vital tool helps assess dialysis adequacy and nutritional status by leveraging pre/post-dialysis BUN levels, session duration, patient weight, and residual renal function. Improve patient care with precise calculations and support optimal nutritional management for patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
Formula:
To estimate the Normalized Protein Catabolic Rate (nPCR) and Kt/V, the following formulas are used:
1. Kt/V (Daugirdas 2nd Generation Formula):
Kt/V = -ln(R - 0.008 × t) + (4 - 3.5 × R) × 0.03 × t
Where:- R = Post-dialysis BUN / Pre-dialysis BUN
- t = Dialysis Session Duration (hours)
- ln = Natural logarithm
2. Normalized Protein Catabolic Rate (nPCR):
nPCR (g/kg/day) = (0.025 × Kt/V) + 0.091 + (0.043 × Residual Urea Clearance)
Where:- Kt/V = Calculated Kt/V value
- Residual Urea Clearance = Patient's residual renal function (mL/min)
