Temperature Corrected Pressure (Pt): hPa

Gravity Corrected Pressure (Pg): hPa

Corrected Pressure (PMSL - Reduced to Sea Level): hPa

Accurately determine your local atmospheric pressure with our advanced online calculator. This tool corrects observed barometer readings for critical environmental factors: local gravity variations, elevation above sea level, and ambient temperature. Essential for meteorology, aviation, and scientific applications, ensure your pressure readings are precise and comparable by accounting for these crucial variables.

Formula:

The correction of barometric pressure involves adjusting for three primary factors:

  • Temperature Correction: Accounts for the thermal expansion or contraction of the barometer instrument (especially mercury) due to observed temperature.
  • Gravity Correction: Adjusts the reading for variations in local gravitational force from the standard gravity, which affects the weight of the air column or the instrument's calibration.
  • Elevation Correction (Reduction to Mean Sea Level): Adjusts the pressure to what it would be at sea level, allowing for standardized comparisons across different altitudes.

The final corrected pressure (Pcorrected) is derived from a series of calculations:

Pcorrected = f(Pobserved, Tobserved, H, φ)

Where:

  • Pobserved = Observed Barometric Pressure at your location.
  • Tobserved = Observed Ambient Temperature at your location.
  • H = Elevation of your location above mean sea level.
  • φ = Latitude of your location.
