Formula:
The Greatest Common Factor (GCF), also known as the Highest Common Factor (HCF), of two or more integers is the largest positive integer that divides each of the integers without leaving a remainder.
For example, to find the GCF of 12 and 18:
- Divisors of 12: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12
- Divisors of 18: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18
The greatest common divisor in both lists is 6. Thus, GCF(12, 18) = 6.
