Easily determine the Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) for atopic dermatitis using our free online calculator. This vital tool helps dermatologists and patients track eczema severity across head/neck, upper limbs, trunk, and lower limbs, considering factors like erythema, infiltration, excoriation, and lichenification, alongside affected body area. Quickly assess and monitor skin condition.
Formula:
The EASI (Eczema Area and Severity Index) score is calculated by summing the scores from four body regions: Head/Neck, Upper Limbs, Trunk, and Lower Limbs.
Each region's contribution is derived from the sum of its severity signs (Erythema, Infiltration/Papulation, Excoriation, Lichenification) and the extent of the affected area, multiplied by a specific body region factor.
Formula breakdown:
EASI Score = (SHN × AHN × 0.1) + (SUL × AUL × 0.2) + (ST × AT × 0.3) + (SLL × ALL × 0.4)
- SHN, SUL, ST, SLL: Sum of Severity Scores (Erythema + Infiltration + Excoriation + Lichenification) for Head/Neck, Upper Limbs, Trunk, and Lower Limbs, respectively. Each sign is scored 0 (none) to 3 (severe), so S ranges from 0 to 12.
- AHN, AUL, AT, ALL: Area Extent Score for Head/Neck, Upper Limbs, Trunk, and Lower Limbs, respectively. Scored 0 (0%) to 6 (90-100%).
- 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4: Body Region Factors for Head/Neck, Upper Limbs, Trunk, and Lower Limbs, respectively.
