Quickly determine the likelihood and severity of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC) Syndrome with our online calculator. This tool utilizes the widely accepted ISTH scoring system to aid in early diagnosis and patient management based on critical lab parameters.

Formula:

The ISTH DIC score is calculated by summing points assigned to specific laboratory parameters:

  • Platelet Count: ≥100 x 109/L (0 points), <100 (1 point), <50 (2 points)
  • Fibrinogen: ≥1.0 g/L (0 points), <1.0 g/L (1 point)
  • Prothrombin Time (PT) Prolongation: <3 seconds (0 points), 3-6 seconds (1 point), >6 seconds (2 points)
  • D-dimer Level: No increase (0 points), Moderate increase (1 point), Strong increase (2 points)

A score of ≥ 5 points is compatible with overt DIC, warranting further clinical investigation.
