Unravel population dynamics with our Demographic Transition Model (DTM) Stage Predictor. Input birth rates, death rates, life expectancy, and other key indicators to instantly determine a region's developmental stage. Understand population growth, life expectancy, and economic shifts to gain insights into global demography and development.
Formula:
The Demographic Transition Model (DTM) predicts a country's stage of development based on changes in birth and death rates over time, alongside other socio-economic indicators. This calculator analyzes the following inputs:
- Crude Birth Rate (CBR): Number of live births per 1,000 people.
- Crude Death Rate (CDR): Number of deaths per 1,000 people.
- Population Growth Rate (PGR): Annual percentage change in population.
- Life Expectancy (LE): Average number of years a person is expected to live.
- Infant Mortality Rate (IMR): Number of infant deaths per 1,000 live births.
- Adult Literacy Rate (ALR): Percentage of adults who can read and write.
- GDP per Capita: Economic output per person (in USD).
- Urbanization Rate: Percentage of the population living in urban areas.
The calculator uses a set of rules and thresholds based on common DTM characteristics to determine the most probable stage (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5).
