Delay and Reverb Calculator: Sync Your Audio Effects to Tempo

Calculate Tempo-Synced Delay Times (MS)

Enter the tempo of your music track.

Unlock perfect timing for your music production with our Delay and Reverb Calculator. Quickly determine tempo-synced delay times for common note divisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes, triplets, dotted notes) and get insights for optimal reverb pre-delay based on your project's BPM. Essential for producers, mix engineers, and musicians seeking rhythmic precision and perfectly timed effects.

Formula:

To calculate tempo-synced delay times in milliseconds (ms) based on your track's BPM, the fundamental formula is:
Delay Time (ms) = (60000 / BPM) * Note Duration Factor
Where:

  • BPM: Beats Per Minute of your track.
  • 60000: Number of milliseconds in one minute (1000 ms/second * 60 seconds/minute).
  • Note Duration Factor: A multiplier representing the duration of the desired note subdivision relative to a quarter note.
    • Whole Note: 4
    • Half Note: 2
    • 1/4 Note (Quarter): 1
    • 1/8 Note (Eighth): 0.5
    • 1/16 Note (Sixteenth): 0.25
    • 1/4 Triplet (Quarter Triplet): 0.6667 (approx. 2/3)
    • 1/8 Triplet (Eighth Triplet): 0.3333 (approx. 1/3)
    • 1/4 Dotted (Quarter Dotted): 1.5
    • 1/8 Dotted (Eighth Dotted): 0.75
