Navigate complex cardiovascular decisions with our DAPT Score Calculator. This essential tool helps clinicians and patients assess the net clinical benefit of extending dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) beyond 12 months in individuals who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Understand your ischemic risk versus bleeding risk to inform optimal treatment strategies for long-term cardiovascular health management.
Formula:
The DAPT score is a clinical risk assessment tool derived from a summation of points assigned to specific patient characteristics. A higher score generally indicates a net benefit from prolonged DAPT due to higher ischemic risk, while a lower score (or negative score) suggests a net harm or no benefit, often due to increased bleeding risk. The score ranges from -2 to +10, with a score ≥2 indicating net clinical benefit for extended DAPT and a score <2 indicating net harm or no benefit.
- Age < 50 years: +2 points
- Age 50-64 years: +1 point
- Age 65-74 years: 0 points
- Age ≥ 75 years: -1 point (Increased bleeding risk)
- Prior Myocardial Infarction (MI): +1 point
- Diabetes Mellitus: +1 point
- Current Smoker: +1 point
- History of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) or Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) < 30%: +1 point
- History of Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA): +1 point
- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73m²): +1 point
- Index PCI performed in a Saphenous Vein Graft (SVG): +1 point
