Formula:
vc = [ π × DC × n ] ÷ 1000
where,DC = drill diameter,
n = main axis spindle speed,
vc = cutting speed
Example:
What is the cutting speed when main axis spindle speed is 1850min-1 and drill diameter is 10mm ?
Solution,
Substitute π=3.141592653589793, DC=10, n=1850 into the formula
vc = π × DC × n ÷ 1000
= [ 3.141592653589793 × 10 × 1850 ] ÷ 1000
= 50.9 m/min
The cutting speed is 58.12 m/min.
