Formula:
The CURB-65 score is calculated by assigning one point for each of the following five criteria present in a patient diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP):
- Confusion (disorientation to person, place, or time, or new-onset altered mental status)
- Urea > 7 mmol/L (or > 19 mg/dL)
- Respiratory Rate ≥ 30 breaths/min
- Blood Pressure (systolic < 90 mmHg or diastolic ≤ 60 mmHg)
- 65 years of age or older (Age ≥ 65 years)
The total score ranges from 0 to 5 points. Higher scores indicate greater severity and increased mortality risk.
