The calculation uses the following standard formulas for lung volumes:
- Functional Residual Capacity (FRC) = Expiratory Reserve Volume (ERV) + Residual Volume (RV)
- Total Lung Capacity (TLC) = Inspiratory Capacity (IC) + Functional Residual Capacity (FRC)
- Alternatively: TLC = IC + ERV + RV
