Use our free Chi Square P Value Calculator to quickly determine the statistical significance of your categorical data analysis. Input your chi-square statistic and degrees of freedom to find the P-value for hypothesis testing and draw accurate conclusions.
Formula:
The P-value (p) for the Chi-Square test indicates the probability of observing a chi-square statistic as extreme as, or more extreme than, the one calculated, assuming the null hypothesis is true.
It is derived from the Chi-Square (χ2) statistic and the Degrees of Freedom (df). The Chi-Square statistic itself is often calculated as:
χ2 = ∑ ( (O - E)2 / E )
Where:
- O = Observed frequency
- E = Expected frequency
Our calculator takes the pre-calculated χ2 and df to find the corresponding P-value using statistical methods based on the Chi-Square Cumulative Distribution Function.
