Formula:
The Centor Score (also known as the Modified Centor Score or McIsaac Score) is used to estimate the probability of Group A Streptococcus (GAS) pharyngitis. It is calculated by summing points for the presence of specific clinical criteria:
- Tonsillar Exudates: +1 point
- Swollen, Tender Anterior Cervical Lymph Nodes: +1 point
- Absence of Cough: +1 point
- History of Fever (≥100.4°F / 38°C): +1 point
- Age 3-14 years: +1 point
- Age 15-44 years: 0 points
- Age ≥45 years: -1 point
A higher score indicates a higher likelihood of strep throat.
