Formula:

To estimate the number of bricks and mortar volume, the calculator uses the following logic:

  • Total Wall Volume (Vwall) = Wall Length (L) × Wall Height (H) × Effective Wall Thickness (Teff)
  • Effective Wall Thickness (Teff) = (Number of Skins × Brick Width) + ((Number of Skins - 1) × Mortar Joint Thickness)
  • Bricks per Square Meter = 1 / ((Brick Length + Mortar Joint Thickness) × (Brick Height + Mortar Joint Thickness))
  • Total Bricks (B) = Bricks per Square Meter × Wall Length (L) × Wall Height (H) × Number of Skins × (1 + Waste Factor)
  • Volume of One Brick (Vbrick) = Brick Length × Brick Height × Brick Width
  • Total Mortar Volume (M) = (Vwall - (Total Bricks (without waste) × Vbrick)) × (1 + Waste Factor)

All dimensions are converted to meters for consistent volume calculation.
