Block Calculator: Estimate Blocks & Costs for Your Construction Project

Block Quantity & Cost Estimator

Unit for wall height is the same as wall length.
Unit for block height is the same as block length.
Unit for joint thickness is the same as block dimensions.

Accurately calculate the number of blocks required for any wall, considering dimensions, mortar joints, and wastage. Get precise material estimates and total costs for concrete, cinder, or masonry blocks with our user-friendly Block Calculator.

Formula:

To calculate the number of blocks needed for a wall and the total estimated cost, we use the following steps:

  • 1. Effective Block Area (Ablock): \( (L_{block} + T_{joint}) \times (H_{block} + T_{joint}) \)
  • 2. Wall Area (Awall): \( L_{wall} \times H_{wall} \)
  • 3. Raw Blocks Needed (Nraw): \( \frac{A_{wall}}{A_{block}} \)
  • 4. Total Blocks (Ntotal) including wastage: \( N_{raw} \times (1 + \frac{W_{percentage}}{100}) \)
  • 5. Total Cost (Ctotal): \( N_{total} \times C_{per\_block} \)

Where:

  • \( L_{wall} \) = Wall Length
  • \( H_{wall} \) = Wall Height
  • \( L_{block} \) = Block Length
  • \( H_{block} \) = Block Height
  • \( T_{joint} \) = Mortar Joint Thickness
  • \( W_{percentage} \) = Wastage Percentage
  • \( C_{per\_block} \) = Cost Per Block
