The Belt Length Calculator uses the following approximate formulas to determine the length (L) of a belt:

For Open Belt Drive:

L ≈ 2C + (π/2)(D&sub1; + D&sub2;) + (D&sub1; - D&sub2;)² / (4C)

For Crossed Belt Drive:

L ≈ 2C + (π/2)(D&sub1; + D&sub2;) + (D&sub1; + D&sub2;)² / (4C)

Where:

  • L = Total Belt Length
  • C = Center Distance between the two pulleys
  • D&sub1; = Diameter of Pulley 1
  • D&sub2; = Diameter of Pulley 2
