ASPECTS Score Calculator: Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score

Calculate Your Patient's ASPECTS Score

Select all brain regions below that show early ischemic changes on the non-contrast CT scan. Each selected region will deduct 1 point from the initial score of 10.

Determine the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) to systematically evaluate 10 key brain regions for early ischemic changes in acute stroke patients using non-contrast CT. This vital tool assists neurologists and radiologists in critical treatment decisions for ischemic stroke.

Formula:

The Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) begins with a baseline of 10 points. For each specific brain region (caudate, lentiform, internal capsule, insular ribbon, M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6) showing early ischemic changes on a non-contrast CT scan, 1 point is subtracted from the initial 10.

Variables:

  • Baseline: 10 points
  • Affected Region: -1 point (for each of 10 regions)
The final score ranges from 0 (diffuse ischemia) to 10 (no ischemia).
