Formula:
The AP Chemistry exam score is typically determined by a weighted combination of your performance on the Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) and Free-Response Questions (FRQ). While exact weighting and cut scores vary annually, our calculator uses a common approximation:
- Composite Score (CS) = (Number of Correct MCQs × 1.1) + Total FRQ Points
The resulting Composite Score is then mapped to the final AP Score (1-5) based on approximate cut scores:
- AP Score 5: CS ≥ 116
- AP Score 4: 91 ≤ CS < 116
- AP Score 3: 61 ≤ CS < 91
- AP Score 2: 41 ≤ CS < 61
- AP Score 1: CS < 41
