Utilize our AIMS65 Score Calculator to quickly assess the mortality risk in patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. This essential clinical tool aids healthcare professionals in making timely and informed management decisions, improving patient outcomes by stratifying risk effectively and supporting evidence-based care.
Formula:
The AIMS65 score is a simple sum of points, with one point awarded for each of the following five criteria present in a patient with upper GI bleeding:
- Albumin < 3.0 g/dL (30 g/L)
- INR > 1.5
- Mental status alteration (disorientation, lethargy, stupor, coma)
- Systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg
- Age > 65 years
The total score can range from 0 to 5 points. A higher AIMS65 score correlates directly with an increased risk of in-hospital mortality.
