Online acoustic calculator to calculate sound intensity level (SIL) or acoustic intensity level easily.

Sound intensity level (SIL) (also known as acoustic intensity level) is the level (a logarithmic quantity) of the intensity of a sound relative to a reference value.

Sound intensity describes the rate of energy flow through a unit area. In the SI system of units the unit area is 1 m². And hence the units for sound intensity are Watts per square metre.

Sound Intensity Level Calculation

Formula:

SIL(dB)=10log×II0

where,
SIL = sound intensity level or acoustic intensity level
I = the sound intensity
I0 = the reference sound intensity
