where,
  • V = volume flow rate of sludge feed
  • s.g. = specific gravity of sludge
  • % solids = percent solids expressed as a decimal
  • ρ = density of water, 62.4 lb/ft3 (994.6 kg/m3)
  • Ws = weight flow rate of sludge feed
